Community Announcement:

From:  Barrett Station Youth Baseball & Softball

Please place this notice in your announcements on the weeks of March 2, March 9 and March 16, 2014.

There will be a Community meeting held on March 19TH at the Riley Chambers Community Center at 6:30 to launch a new Youth Baseball Program which will begin in May.  The purpose of this meeting is to determine if there is a sufficient level of interest and amount of participation required to form the league.

Participating ages for children in the Junior League Division will be 5-12.  If there is sufficient interest expressed from children ages 13-18, a Major League Division could be formed as well.

We are currently perusing an affiliation with Major League Baseball under their RBI Program (Revitalizing Baseball in the Inner City).  The goal of RBI is to provide a program for underserved youth that uses baseball and softball as a vehicle to teach life lessons that develop “Major League Citizens”.

This will be a very beneficial program for the children in our community and provide much needed Spring and Summer activities. If you can help in any way in launching this endeavor, please attend the meeting on March 19TH.

For more information, call Fred Barrett at (713) 494-3990 or contact Roland Flannel.
